- Home08/16: Monica Corwin
This month’s featured author is an Ohioan, just like our AL Mabry, which is why she has been selected- I mean besides her great writing style! We are very honored to have her on the site with us this month. Introducing Monica Corwin! Enjoy!
Monica Corwin is an outspoken writer who attempts to make romance accessible to everyone no matter their preferences. As a new Northern Ohioian Monica enjoys snow drifts, three seasons of weather, and disliking Michigan. When not writing Monica spends time with her daughter and her ever growing collection of tomes about King Arthur.
We are so honored to have you as our Author of the Month! Thank you for sharing your words with the world! Let’s talk about your latest released book. Tell us a short blurb about the book, please?
Basically the horseman of Conquest is having problems controlling her powers so she takes to domination at a sex club to curb the edge.
It was created with my friends. Just some random banter until the idea grew too big and I had to write it.
How long did it take you to write it?
About 4 months or so plus then the time to edit/publish everything.
How did you come up with the title?
Just a spin from the first title plus the verse in the Bible
What is your favorite line from the book?
“Bianca clutched her ribs that were beginning to ache from her rough landing and smiled, a wild unhinged grin. “I have nothing left to lose.””
There’s a lot of talk in the writing community about “writing what you know.” Does that apply to this book?
Yes and no. I “know” paranormal romance but I don’t necessarily have a special knowledge of the four horseman or the Bible.
How did you find “your voice?”
This is a fun question. I think through years of practice and challenge. They say we are strongest against adversity and I’ve found my voice by pushing myself.
Do you stick to one genre or do you dabble in others, too?
Mostly PNR but I venture to erotic and contemporary on occasion.
What are you currently working on?
A PNR about a vampire who wants to become human.
Which manuscript did you have the most fun working on?
I think King Takes Queen. King Arthur has been my favorite book boyfriend since I was a teenager; it was fun to give him the happy ending he deserves.
What is your best one sentence advice to other writers?
I play with my daughter, read, and work in cybercrime.
If you had to sum your life up in 3 words, what would they be?
Crazy, loving, and kind.
What motivates you?
My daughter and the voices in my head pushing me to do better and be better at what I truly love.
Tell us about your favorite cause.
I’m passionate about military charities as I served for years myself. Fisher House is my favorite and it’s a charity that houses injured soldier’s families while they are receiving treatment.
Identify your superpower.
The ability to drink as much caffeine as necessary before bed and still be able to sleep.

What’s your favorite quote? Book? Movie? Song? Food?
Are you coffee or tea?
And lastly, what is the one thing you wish people who DON’T write would understand about writing?
That it is a lot harder to complete a book than they realize. Many assume we sit down and crank out a novel but that’s simply not the case.
Thanks for being our featured author of the month!
