Who Are You?

January 20, 2014 Writing 5

It’s discussion time, friends. I stole this little gem from Random House and Facebook. I love to read, and I’ve found that after reading a good story my writing comes easier. I think it’s better too. I have made it a goal to read much more this year. So far I have completed two books, The Bone Collector and Divergent, and have already started my 3rd, The Thief Lord.

What are you reading this year? Have you set a goal? Do you know that my book, Til Death Do Us Part (on sale at Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and Createspace, full selection on Goodreads) is short enough it can be read in a day? How delightful would it be if someone responded to this question with “Elizabeth” or “Drew”! (Even though the true MC in my story is the ring). So, let’s hear it…

Last character

And to answer my own question, I am Tris (Beatrice) from Divergent. The funny thing about that? I can totally see myself as Tris, as a Dauntless, too, so this book was really great reading for me. I got to do things I’ve only dreamed of, and I love that it is set in a dystopian Chicago, one of my favorite cities. I lived in Chicago for a year, and I would love to go back.

Won’t you take a moment to join in the discussion and share with me who YOU are?

Hmmm…I’m trying to remember which book I last read since I frequently complete a couple around the same time 🙂

I guess I would be Serena Diaz from Erin Healy’s “Stranger Things”. I’m not sure if I would have the courage to be her!

FYI SAM: if you have never read Healy I highly recommend her. She does mystery/suspense with a supernatural/spiritual twist. She’s categorized as a Christian author but it’s not in your face religion which I love because frankly, I’m just not.

That sounds like my cup of tea. I like the Christian authors with subtle stories like CS Lewis. Thats what my 1000 Ways to Die was set out to be, except that it may be a little “obvious” at one point. I think I will need to work on it again and perhaps come up with a “not in your face” finale for it instead.

Thanks for the book recommendation! I think I’ll have discussions like this more often on my blog.

I would be Candy, a female Jade demon, from “Kill City Blues,” a Sandman Slim novel by Richard Kadrey.

I would be Misha, the young fire starter banished to Ever for an inherited magic she hasn’t even come to understand yet. She is from Jen Wylie’s Tales of Ever. Loved it. 🙂

It's YOUR write side, too! Let's hear it!
