Surviving NaNoWriMo: Week 2 in a Nutshell

Surviving NaNoWriMo: Week 2 in a Nutshell
November 17, 2011 8 Comments Writing Stephanie Ayers

The dreaded second week came, and its almost over, and I’m still running steady on the word count (You can see my progress in the sidebar!) and the story is still tumbling out, no ending in sight.

I didn’t write much Monday. It took all day of goofing around before I actually got motivated enough to sit down and write. Tuesday went much smoother and before I knew it, I had pounded out almost 4,000 words. Yesterday went a little slow too. I’m still ahead, but I’d like to stay that way. This is yet another busy weekend.

As you can see, my story is all that is on my mind. I’ve used it for 3? 4? prompts and there will be another snippet posting later today, and of course, tomorrow’s Red Writing Hood.

I’d still wager that the NaNo people have it right though. Week 2 does kind of trudge along. The story is a bit slow, as “backstory” is weaved in or I move characters into position for the real action to get started. I’m excited to see where it all will take me.

So, tell me, how’s your NaNo project going? What did you do to survive the horrors of Week 2?

All I can say is thank goodness I wrote a lot in my first few days – since my family, who visited for and week, left I’ve been useless. But today I managed another threes thousand after a week of none. I’m at 36k so with twelve days to go I should be okay. I need to fill bits out and connect dots here and there. I did all the fun bits first though so it came quickly, the next week will be all boring linking up which comes more slowly and does little to inspire me to get my head down. Good for you and your steady approach! Your positivity is fabulous. 😀 Shah .X

Thank you! I didn’t realize that I was being “positive” but I’ll take that. Good luck finishing up, shah!
