Of Fairies and Fireflies

Of Fairies and Fireflies

July 28, 2012 Writing 18

Sitting on the rocks by the cemetery
Reading the ancient runes
“You are like Merlin” the wise one said
“Relearning what you already knew.”

Waiting for that instance
When darkness meets the light
Waiting for that twinkle
That says the fairies are a-flight.

Sitting on the rocks by the cemetery
My child by my side
We await that twilight hour
When the fairies and fireflies collide.

Don’t tell me to quiet, hush, or desist
As my imagination will conceive
All the wonders in store for me
In the land of Make Believe.

Two prompts were given this week. Here’s my response to #2: Make Believe.

I welcome and appreciate your feedback, so leave your thoughts in a comment.
