I’m trying something new because it looks like fun. The idea is to share about 5 songs set in a theme. This week’s theme to Twisted MixTape Tuesday is spiritual. We are supposed to create a mixtape of songs that are spiritual to ourselves. Since everyone knows I’m a woman of faith, I shouldn’t find this challenge too hard, now should I? You’d be surprised!

Well, here we go….

I’ve long been a Carrie Underwood fan and Jesus Take the Wheel always reminds me that no matter what circumstances I am facing, if I’ll just “let go and let God” He’s a better driver than I am…

Over this past year, my life has been a series of mountains and valleys and I learned some hard truths along the way. Rascal Flatt’s “Changed” is a perfect description of this…

And that leads me into finding the fullness and love my heart has been seeking for a long time. You hear about a peace that surpasses all understanding and I have become acquainted with that peace. There’s nothing like the love of my Father to get me through anything. Jesus Culture does that well, reminding me that no matter what I do or what happens, One Thing Remains…

Sometimes it’s comforting to know that things I do aren’t in vain and I’m not alone. It also makes me cry because its a perfect description of the passion in my soul and that’s okay, I should keep plugging on Anyway.

And to close out this mixtape, and despite that I don’t particularly care for the singer of this song, it’s a powerful statement to my beliefs. It doesn’t matter what you come from or where you are going, it’s simply The Climb.

I hope you enjoyed the mixtape.

Do you have songs that speak to your soul? Tell me what they are!

Thanks for stopping in!

    true story

In my old church, a small southern Baptist place of about 100 folks, Jesus Take The Wheel was done maybe once every six weeks by four different women in our congregation. As a result I heard four different ways to sing a song I would normally find lame. I grew to like it because of this approach.

It’s a gorgeous song. I had a hard time deciding between this one or Temporary Home. I’m a dedicated fan though ever since her first appearance on American Idol, LOL.

My absolute faves would be the first and the last numbers, though I love the whole list!

Anyway is such a gorgeous song…in fact I have the poem that it’s based on hanging here at work and framed at home to remind me to try to be ‘better”.

If I made this mix one of my songs would be country “Old Dirt Road” or “Believe” because whenever I heard either one I am just moved.

I loved your selections. It’s fun to get to know people through this kind of meme.

I already knew your first and last picks and liked them both (I actually quite like Miley Cyrus as a singer/putting the current drama aside) The middle ones were new – enjoyed it all. Welcome to TMT!

One Thing Remains is covered by my church band fairly regularly. I couldn’t remember the name of my other favorite.
