Author Bio:

A steadfast and proud sci-fi and fantasy geek, A. F. Stewart was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada and still calls it home. She favours the dark and deadly when writing—her genres of choice being dark fantasy and horror—but she has been known to venture into the light on occasion. As an indie author she’s published novellas and story collections, with a few side trips into poetry and non-fiction.

She is fond of good books, action movies, sword collecting, geeky things, comic books, and oil painting as a hobby. She has a great interest in history and mythology, often working those themes into her books and stories.

Excerpts:

Blood across the wall

Painted human skulls, staring

Hell’s Gate, reflecting

Do you want to see

my pretty doll collection?

They were alive, once

Ravens overhead

circling on their silent wings

watching corpses fall

Screams, blood, abhorrence

Death and Hate walk hand in hand

Forever entwined

Ponder the weary

everything dark and dreary

Ravens peck the dead

Shadows creep, child weeps

Don’t breathe, don’t cry—stay quiet

The monster’s hunting

Raven caws, warning

Heed the cry, and stay away

The witch is hungry

Missing, lost, alone

Will existence fade away

if no one searches?

Stone Maidens in a Row

Those little stone maidens all in a row,

come see them hither, along the wall

with downcast eyes, hands folded all

Those little stone maidens all in a row

Come see them hither, along the wall

Such pretty things for cold grey stone,

standing there amidst grass overgrown

Come see them hither, along the wall

Such pretty things for cold grey stone

Makes you wonder what’s underneath

Is it flesh and bone that lies beneath?

Such pretty things for cold grey stone

Makes you wonder what’s underneath,

those little stone maidens all in a row

Is it sad small tales of death and woe?

Makes you wonder what’s underneath

Those little stone maidens all in a row,

come see them hither, along the wall

with downcast eyes, hands folded all

Those little stone maidens all in a row
