Countdown to 500 (#4)

Countdown to 500 (#4)

September 18, 2014 Writing 6

We are almost there. The big 500. Why do I feel like this is as big as turning 50 (which, incidentally I am many years away from)?

Today we have cupcakes. Yum!

For today’s post, I looked to google. I typed in three little numbers: 500.

It directed me to wikipedia, of course, where I had a nice little selection.

So, today, we shall have a list of 500s.

Did you know 500 AD started on a Saturday and was a leap year?

  • the Kingdom of Essex was formed
  • the monument of Ale’s Stones was built in Sweden
  • Xie He, a chinese writer and art historian, was born
  • The Arian Baptistry is erected by Theodoric the Great.

There’s a 500 card game that is like bridge but based of Euchre and 500cc Grand Prix which is a computer racing game for Atari ST, 500 rum-a variation of rummy, and 500 ball-a ballgame for kids.

You have 500 meter track races, the Indianapolis and Daytona 500s, and a 500 home run club.

You can drive a Ford Five Hundred or a Fiat 500.

The Japanese have a 500 yen coin.

Fortune 500.

500 Renaissance Center in Detroit and a 500th SS Parachute Battalion.

There’s even a minor planet, 500 Selinar, orbiting the sun.

And then there’s little old me, approaching my 500th post.

And your chance to win a copy of my book: Til Death Do Us Part.

Here’s how:

1 lucky commenter will win a signed paperback copy and 5 lucky commenters will win a copy of the ebook.

Yes, you read that right. Six (6) lucky My Write Side fans will win a copy of my debut story. If you’ve ever wondered what a rejected engagement ring does to gain acceptance, you need wonder no more. This book follows a fascinating chain of events that will horrify you even as you find yourself rooting for the ring to come full circle.

And it can be YOURS, just by doing this one simple thing. Comment, comment, comment. There will be a total of six posts this week. You have five chances to comment. The more you comment, the greater your chances to win! On the 6th day, the 500th post, I will announce the 6 lucky winners.

So please, take a moment and say “hi.” Don’t forget to come back tomorrow, when I share a new 500 word story!!

Thanks for coming by!
