Your willingness to allow us to interview you goes a long way to helping us branch out and reach more writers and readers. Thank you so much!

We look forward to learning more about Composite Games and the people behind the scenes.

  1. Introduce yourself, if you would?

Hi, my name is Craig and I am the owner and lead game developer at Composite Games Limited.

2. Tell us a little about the history behind Composite Games. What motivated you to create games?

I’ve always had a passion for world building and telling stories, and when I later acquired a table top RPG we were on our way to creating our own line of products.

3. Do you have a mission statement? Would you share it?

It is the vision of Composite Games to bring new and innovative games, worlds and ideas to the board, card and role-playing games market.

4. Gaming is a big business. What sets your product apart from the rest?

Our games are part of a multimedia strategy, each role-playing game we release will have published stories, and in some cases, live action/animated films to help introduce people to our games.

5. What are your goals for yourself and the company in the next 3-5 years?

Unseen WorldsWe are looking to finish the pilot for our Unseen World web series this year which will lead to the web series being funded and released next year as a tie in to the Unseen World RPG. Were also about to release the first story anthology set in the Chronicles of Ollundra setting. This will tie in with the RPG of the same name which is expected to be released sometime later this year.

6. Do you have a profile page or portfolio to help new clients view your work?

Yes you can follow me on Facebook here:

7. What is the biggest challenge you faced in launching Composite Games?

Like all new business, finding finance has always being a struggle, which is why it’s taken so long to get to this point.

8. How do you define success?

If you accomplish what you set out to do and your target audience enjoys the fruits of your labour then you have achieved success.

9. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Demo cover 2.0Holding the demo copy of the Tales of Ollundra and the single for the Unforeseen in my hands.

10. What social media site has been your most productive for marketing and promotion?

Facebook has been a great help connecting with people and promoting my projects, though we have also started to work on twitter.

11. Who is your favourite author and why?

David Gemmell, as he made Heroic Fantasy into an art form and inspired a generation of writers.

12. Do you have a favourite genre? Book?

My favourite genre is heroic fantasy, and my favourite book is Winter Warriors.

13. If you could apply one famous quote to sum up your dream, what would it be?

“Follow your dreams and the universe will create doors where once there were only walls”-Joseph Campbell

14. What advice do you have for emerging game designers and creators?

Write it and play it with your friends, then you need to decide if really want to invest a vast amount of your life into making your game.

15. What is the future of writing?

With the introduction of print on demand and ebook platforms, it’s easy for you to get your role-playing games published, however this is causing an already small market to get saturated so making sure you have a following for your writing via social media is essential.

16. Why is your product so important for writers?

Crazy8sOur 2nd edition of the Crazy8’s role-playing game is a rules lite game system which can be used in any genre with very little work needed. So it’s an excellent way for stepping into role-playing for the first time or for experienced players to play without lots of number crunching and tables.

17. Give us your elevator pitch. What can you say that will send our subscribers to your website so they can enjoy your product?

Our RPG supplements help add flavour to existing games and our upcoming release of Crazy8’s second edition will allow new to try out roleplaying without any huge investment as you only need two eight sided dice to play.

18. Tell us about your newest games and trailers? When will they be released?

Chronicles of OllundraCrazy8’s second edition is in the final stages of being edited together with the artwork being applied so we are looking for a September release. Once the core rules are out we will be introducing the Unseen World and Chronicles of Ollundra role-playing games which will used an advanced version of these rules called the Composite Gaming System. The kickstarter for the anthology that introduces the Chronicles of Ollundra launched on the 6th of July.

19. What kind of games do you usually create?

We are currently focusing on Heroic Fantasy and Urban Fantasy based games, however we have plans for a cyberpunk, diesel punk and sci-fi games in the future.

20. What is the one single thing our readers should take away from this interview?

If you have the passion for games and games design then don’t sit on them, put something together as there may be people out there that would like to play them too.

21. Can our subscribers get involved with what you are doing?

Yes, we are constantly looking for new writers, artists, and designers to get involved with the project, and since we’re digitally based, we’re happy to talk with people outside the UK. You can contact us at info@compositegames.com

What a great thing you have going here, Craig! We wish you much success and hope to hear more from you in the future. Thank you for the interview.
